Greg Brenner, Board Vice President

Founder & Vice President

Greg Brenner is the driving force behind Punk Rock Night (PRN). Since launching PRN in 2000 at the Melody Inn in Indianapolis, Indiana, Greg has nurtured a community-centered music institution that celebrates DIY spirit, supports local talent, and invites touring acts to share the stage in Indiana.

With a background spanning IT support, print graphics, and event production, Greg has always bridged passion and profession. As co-founder of PRN Graphics, he turned creative expression into a sustainable operation adjacent to the music hub he loves. In 2011, he transitioned operational leadership to collaborators while continuing to lead in video, streaming, and community outreach.

Greg is also the founder and Vice President of the Punk Rock Night Foundation, a registered 501(c)(3) dedicated to preserving punk’s legacy, nurturing emerging artists, and offering financial and infrastructural support to musicians in need. Under his stewardship, the foundation has already aided touring bands facing hardship and supported grassroots local shows.

A longtime collector of punk memorabilia, Greg envisions a future museum that celebrates the cultural impact of punk rock. His weekly webcasts preview upcoming PRN shows, deepening the connection between artists and fans. Greg’s own musical journey was ignited by seeing The Ramones live — a moment that crystallized the transformative power of punk.

Maria Cadaver, Board Treasurer

Q&A:

What are some of your favorite local bands?
Adictos Al Kaos, The Involuntarys, Lustkill, Mr. Clit and the Pink Cigarettes, Indomitable

Are you in any bands?
9th Circle Symphony

What does punk mean to you?
Punk is a community. It’s a group of people that go against the norm. It’s a mindset of thought. We’re outside the mainstream. We do things our own way. And sometimes we share a genre of music and fashion. And sometimes other people even like it.

What pets do you have?
Two dogs. One husband.

What’s an interesting fact that not many people know about you?
I used to be a ballroom dance instructor.

What’s your superpower?
I get hyper focused on a new hobby and pick it up super quick. Examples basket weaving, canning, blacksmithing.

What’s a bucket list band you would like to see live?
Rammstein

What is your favorite memory at Punk Rock Night?
The first Día de Los Muertos show. Seeing so many punks come out and celebrate loved ones and members of the scene that had passed was so joyous. I also don’t think I’ve seen so many POC punks in one place. It was a beautiful moment to share with the community.

What are some of your other interests/hobbies?
Tattooing, dancing, painting, sewing, crocheting, wood burning, basket weaving, cooking, food preservation, overnight backpacking, going to the firing range. That’s enough for now lol.

Nik Bones, Board Secretary

Q&A:

What are some of your favorite local bands? Mr. Clit and the Pink Cigarettes, Barbaro, Bingo Boys, Patron Saints of Violence

Are you in any bands? You know, I am. I’ve been in more than a few over the years and sometimes it seems like I join a band and leave more often than the crust punks change their underwear.

What’s an interesting fact that not many people know about you? I’m a published author. I’ve written and designed a table top role playing game and been published in a few academic spaces. At one point, I was an expert in the field of Nahuatl women/culture/indigenous practices during the Spanish Conquest of North America and the Caribbean.

What other ways do you give back to your community? I’ve been heavily involved in harm reduction campaigns, trans youth rights campaigns and abortion rights campaigns. I’m on a list to be called upon for Transgender care as an expert in legal proceedings and abortion rights in regards to Religious Freedom.

What’s your go-to drink? Coffee, with a splash of milk. I like a good sour beer if it’s available too.

The Directors

Rich Barker, Executive Director Indianapolis

With a background in graphic arts and experience in multiple musical acts, Rich began his journey with PRN as a performer, playing during PRN’s first year and has consistently been performing in bands at PRN ever since. By 2006 Rich was the official PRN photographer and webmaster, helping shape the image and style of PRN. Then by 2008 he was not only doing most of the booking, but was handling Punk Rock Night’s daily operations. Since Rich had been booking shows and festivals since the early 1990s, he took his experience to task with gusto and the D.I.Y. passion punk is known for. Greg and Rich worked together to build the local music scene and make Indianapolis a music destination for fans and touring bands.

After Greg initially retired in 2011 Rich ran PRN as part of his freelance company with the help of some dedicated volunteers. Never completely absent from PRN Greg came back into the organization in 2018 to help curate a PRN live stream experience and to restructure PRN as an official non-profit.

Rich was president of the PRN Foundation for the first two years. As the board developed and grew we knew we would need a president with experience running a non-profit. Rich stepped down from that role to welcome Angie as the new president which also helped Rich avoid conflicts with his freelance company. He has been serving as the Indianapolis Executive Director ever since and continues to run the day to day PRN operations with the help of some wonderful volunteers.
